Meet Megan
Megan Bodish, CPDT-KA

I've always believed that behavior is communication.
Every bark, growl, fearful retreat, or burst of excitement tells a story. Rather than asking, "How do we stop this behavior?" I ask, "What is this dog trying to tell us?"
That's the heart of Root & Paw Behavior Consulting.
My approach is rooted in curiosity, compassion, and evidence-based training. Instead of relying on quick fixes or suppressing behavior, I work with families to uncover the underlying causes of their dog's challenges and create practical, individualized plans that help both dogs and humans thrive.
Whether you're navigating reactivity, fear, anxiety, puppy development, or everyday behavior concerns, my goal is to help you better understand your dog, not just manage them. Lasting behavior change happens when we address the whole picture: your dog's emotions, environment, learning history, and individual needs.
I believe that strong relationships are built on trust, clear communication, and empathy. Every dog deserves to feel safe, and every owner deserves guidance without judgment. Together, we'll build the knowledge and skills you need to create a more confident, connected life with your dog.
I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) and am completing my Master of Science in Animal Behavior and Welfare at Virginia Tech, with graduation expected in December. I am committed to lifelong learning and continually seek opportunities to expand my knowledge through current research and continuing education in animal behavior, welfare, and humane training methods.

At Root & Paw Behavior Consulting, my approach is rooted in curiosity, science, and empathy. Rather than focusing on quick fixes or suppressing unwanted behaviors, I help clients understand the underlying causes of their dog's behavior and develop practical, individualized plans that strengthen the relationship between dog and human.

My goal is simple: to help people see their dogs with greater understanding and compassion. When we address the root of behavior, not just the symptoms, we create meaningful, lasting change and build relationships based on trust.

I'm honored to be part of that journey with you and your dog.

At Root & Paw, we don't just treat the symptoms, we discover the roots, so both ends of the leash can flourish.
